Keefe' and his son K.J. joined the club just a few months ago. He was well liked and everyone was excited that they had joined. He was organizing the 2022 Gopher Hill, SC care show. We lost him before we had a chance to even know him.
Keefe David Blatchley,56, of Ridgeland, SC passed away Thursday, August 11, 2022. He was born on May 25, 1966, in Westfield, MA to Mrs. Barbara Sturtevant Blatchley and the late Mr. Claude David Blatchley.
Keefe was the owner and operator of Blatchley Brake and Tire in Ridgeland, South Carolina. He had no prior knowledge of running a business; however, through determination and a lot of hard work, he was able to sustain his business for over twenty years. Keefe didn’t just run a mechanic and rollback business; he was the Jack of all trades and was also involved in our community, including his campaign run for the position as Sherriff of Jasper County. His love for our town grew while serving as an officer in the Ridgeland Police Department, as well as through different events in the community. He has helped our leaders with the elections and worked with the Gopher Hill Festival committee to put together a car show this year. He also headed up and participated in many fund-raising benefits. Keefe has worked with business owners throughout our town to figure out how to make Ridgeland a better place for the next generation. He was an avid car enthusiast, from playing with Hot Wheels as a child, to being able to have a real one. He once said, “Some people hunt. Some people fish. I have my cars”. Through all his accomplishments, nothing meant more to him than family. As busy as he was, he managed to never miss a single Christmas, family trip, or birthday of his children or grandchildren. His family was his pride and joy and always came first. He will be missed greatly, but his legacy and his impact will continue to live on in his family and community.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Amanda Blatchley; one son, K.J. Blatchley; four daughters, Jenne Gregory, Katherine Atadero (Liam), Heather Padgett (Charles), Kaylynn Blatchley; his mother, Barbara Sturtevant; three brothers, Kristopher Blatchley (Kelly), Kraig Blatchley, Kevin Blatchley (Kaseur); two sisters, Kari-Lynn Thomas (Eric), Kandince Cortez (Carlos); two grandchildren, Landry and Lukas Padgett; and his special K-9 friend, “Toby”.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 AM, on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at Vaigneur Funeral Home, 6802 Tillman Road, Ridgeland, SC.
