Lawrence Winkler, Jr. - Savannah -Elmer Lawrence Winkler, Jr., 69, of
Savannah, died Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at Memorial Medical Health University.
He was born in Collinsville, Illinois, and was a veteran, having served in
the US Air Force. He was a Communicant of the Catholic Church, and a member
of the Dixie Land Cruisers Car Club. He was the owner/operator of E. L.
Winkler Towing Company. He was preceded in death by a son, Christopher
Winkler, and a sister, Dolores Belobrleydic. He is survived by his wife,
Sherrye Snider Winkler, of Savannah, GA; two sons, David and Barry Winkler;
two daughters, Donna Helpingsteine, and Rebekah Mooney; stepson, C. F.
Landrum, III, and a stepdaughter, Robin Evans; four brothers, Robert,
Ronald, Richard, and Edwin Winkler; four sisters, Marie Hultz, and Lorraine
Daly, 13 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren. Visitation: 4-8
p.m. Friday at Fairhaven Funeral Home. Funeral Services: 10 a.m. Saturday in
the Chapel of the Fairhaven Funeral Home, with Rev. G. Lois Caster,
officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest West Cemetery. Active
pallbearers will be: Jack Wilson, Xavier Winkler, James Winkler, Nicholas
Landrum, Frank Garrison, and Ferrell Andrews. Honorary pallbearers will be
members of the Dixieland Cruises Car Club and Our Gang Car Club. Fairhaven
